Mamata Banerjee and Nandigram violence

The West Bengal Government sought after to establish a chemical hub in the Nandigram region in order to generate employment in the state. The Haldia Development Authority with its chief Lakshman Seth posted a notice with the idea of acquisition of land in Nandigram. Trinamool Congres initiated a line of defense. The Chief Minister said the notice to be torn off. On the 14th March the cops opened fire and thereby killing 14 villagers, when they were sent to do away with the seize of nearly six months by the aggressive agitation of Mamata Banarjee.

Her party motivated local people to stand not in favor of authority. Many ordinary people were dispossessed due to this political bloodbath. A hefty numeral of Intellectuals marched in protest on the streets and this episode gave to the origin of a new-fangled movement to upheaval the left from Government led by the CPI (M). Mamata Banerjee wrote letters to the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil to bring to a halt the brutality allegedly upheld by CPI-M in Nandigram. Confrontation in Nandigram still reigned. Mamata Banerjee succeeded in achieving a vast political advantage from all this.
